R & R - for some of us.

Carol, Kris and I are enjoying beautiful weather while watching the Momma and baby moose in the back yard.

Andrew has found a new friend in Kris' friend Serge. Serge is a 16 year old bicyclist who just happened to be born 52 years ago. His idea of "cycling" is a warm up of 60 miles one day and 90 miles the next. On a mountain bike with 4" fat tires.

He took Andrew for an introductory ride of some unknown distance. They stopped counting at 30 miles. They started off nice and easy.

Then a stop at the market to refuel.

Great view of Cook Inlet.

Trails got a little more difficult.

Things weren't all fun and giggles - but Duct Tape and a little paper towel usually stops the bleeding.

A GREAT ALASKAN day to celebrate Andrew's 17th birthday. No candles, but we did get a delicious cake at Fred Meyer - which is the Alaskan branch of Kroger's so we could even use Andrew's employee card to get a discount ! The picture doesn't do it justice so I will admit that I took it.

A couple more days of rest and then it's off to Denali and points north and east.
