WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE ?

It's been 2 1/2 months since our Wedding and since I've blogged. So much has happened and we've done so many wonderful things. So many that I haven't had time to write about it.

We left on our summer trip on June 13th and today is our first "slow day". I'm writing here, the kids are writing to relatives and in their journals and Carol is sending postcards to friends. And we're doing laundry this morning. This afternoon we will go visit two of my high school teachers and get a tour of the school.

We're in Equinunk, PA.

A slice of heaven just off the Delaware river on the edge of the Pocono Mountains - or - just across the river from the Catskill Mountains, depending on which direction you look. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth IN THE SUMMER ! It is not as nice in the winter.

We're hooked up behind the house of Mike Dubois and Donna Lind Dubois. Donna is one of four high school friends that I am still in touch with. When they heard we were coming back "home" they immediately offered some of their yard for a parking spot.

We've been having a "mini high school reunion" with Donna, and Marilyn Johnson Stamets for a couple of days. Just a practice session for 2013 when we'll celebrate our 50th. Their husbands and Carol have been very patient while we talk about people, places and events they don't know.

But I need to catch y'all up on the last 2 1/2 months. A couple of weeks after our wedding, we had a big party at the Jefferson Center. All of my kids and grandkids, a cousin of Carol's and her husband from Richmond, a bunch of friends from Roanoke and Salem and Sandra Steffensen, a Whirly Girl friend who drove all the way from Titusville, FL.

We made it VERY clear in the invitations that this was a kid friendly party. After all, with my grandkids and stepkids, we'd be responsible for 6 being there! We set up three "kid's tables". One for coloring, one with board games and one with playdoh.

Here are some pictures:

Tyler and Andrew at the game table -

Our "first dance" -

George sweeping Emily off her feet -

Cheryl Cobey with her Daughter (and my Goddaughter) Erin and me -

Sandra Steffensen and Mark Seidell -

We only gave the DJ two directives, "No 'YMCA' and no line dancing". We weren't subjected to "YMCA" but the crowd won out on the line dancing -

"My Two Sons"

And my Daughter and Carol -

After almost everyone had left, my kids gave us "their" present - except they didn't want to haul it all the way into the party. So the propane tank was a big hint. A beautiful Weber grill for our travel - and home use!

After a few days to recuperate, our house was the last stop on a Christian Motorcycle Association ride. We had a picnic and some great fellowship.

The neighbors hadn't complained by the time we left for vacation, so I guess nobody got too upset.

On Friday, June 12th we were waiting for Emily's school bus. As soon as she got off the bus we headed north for our family adventure.
