On Sunday, it was Carol and Andrew's turn to have the stomach bug. So Emily and I headed out on our own adventure to see the Musee D'Orsay.
AGAIN, no pictures inside. But outside we had to reassess our opinions about French crowds which had been formed at Montmartre. The line for D'Orsay went down the block and around the corner. Near the museum, it wound back and forth around ropes and posts like Disney World. Except when we got there, we saw that there were NO ROPES OR POSTS. The people just twisted back and forth to take up less space. And no one jumped line !
The line wasn't too awful bad considering it was "Free Sunday" for the museums. But Emily did have time to take some pictures of the outdoor sculptures.
OF COURSE - A HORSE !
Last Summer at Biltmore we saw this print
from a 1515 picture by Durer, who never actually saw a rhinoceros. It was accepted as accurate for many years.
Apparently long enough for someone to sculpt it for display outside the D'Orsey -
When Emily and I went to the flat to eat before meeting the rest of the clan at the Eiffel Tower we found that Andrew was feeling better. So the three of us went in search of Tom etal. We found them just before the went through the turnstiles. Thank you Tinkerbell.
We all went to the first level. Emily started feeling poorly so I took her back to the flat. Andrew stayed with Tom and the crew. They all went to the top. Then they went ice skating - INSIDE THE EIFFEL TOWER !! Who knew !
We only have a couple of days left in Paris. We're hoping for better weather and everyone well.
