CASEY ANN COOK IS 10 !

"Nana and Papop", Ann's Mom and Step-Dad live just a few blocks from Tom and Ann. So when Ann's sisters and their families came to town for Casey's birthday, the PARTY was at their house.

Carol and Bob made me feel as welcome as a family member, just like Thanksgiving two years ago at the family gathering in Warrenton, VA. The food was great, cousins running around everywhere and beautiful weather. A GREAT day in every way.

Impatiently waiting

Blowing them out

Life is good.

SETTLED IN ON THE MOUNTAIN

Seven Mountains Campground

is in the middle of State Forest land - some 278,000 acres of State Forest land. Seemingly endless mountains, lakes, and trees.

But only 16 miles to Tom and Ann's house. That's the shortest route, via US322 which is always full of 18 wheelers going 70MPH. They go that fast because they just went UP Seven Mountains at, if they're lucky, 25MPH. Then they are required to go DOWN at 20MPH until they get to Potters Mills. So they make up for lost time on the stretch into State College. It seems like there is a fatal accident every month or so.

When the owners of the campground said, "Oh, we never go that way. Too dangerous." I listened - especially since I'm almost always on the Honda. Just 3 miles further takes me through Old Fort, along some of the prettiest roads in the east. At a much more leisurely - and safe - speed.

And I go to "town" almost every day. It's a wonderfully Grandkid filled time. The back of their property adjoins a Bike Path. We walk it - in either direction - to a park, just a short walk from the house. With playground equipment that we usually have all to ourselves.

And Tom has a little swing and slide set in the back yard as well.

And an old fashioned swing for us old folks.

Next entry will be about the reunion of the "Old Folkies", a group of Folk Music people that I hung with at Penn State 40+ years ago.

NO, IT WON'T BE !

HOW could I forget Casey's BIRTHDAY ?!?!
