2nd DAY AT CANYONLAND

We started another early day since it was 30 miles from Moab to the Park entrance. Through cattle country.

"Canyonlands" is plural because it encompasses both the Colorado and the Green River Canyons. We visited the "Island in the Sky" section which is a huge mesa several thousand feet above the rivers.

Candlestick Tower.

Orange Cliffs.

The Grand View Trail goes along the edge of both the Colorado River Canyon and the Green River Canyon to the last point of the "peninsula" or "neck" from which you can view both canyons. Even though the rivers don't meet for another 40 miles or so downstream.

Our walk started with a view of where we were going - the point on the right of picture.

The neck is fairly wide here.

Gonna be a balanced rock someday.

Three more on Green River side.

Panorama from Colorado to Green Canyons.

From a section of the highway where the neck is so narrow you can see both canyons.
